The very best example of the VIGILANTE that history has for us in this lesson is the inquisitions of the middle ages, and the witch hunts of Salem.
Main Entry:
vig·i·lan·te
Etymology:
Spanish, watchman, guard, from vigilante vigilant, from Latin vigilant-, vigilans
Date:
1856
: a member of a volunteer committee organized to suppress and punish crime summarily (as when the processes of law are viewed as inadequate); broadly : a self-appointed doer of justice
In the end it is the Gospel that will decide if we will stand or fall on Judgment day!
This is how and where Judgment belongs to God Alone because it is God alone who has made known his words to us in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This knowledge of God the father, his very own will is supreme justice for all mankind. Any other way is the way of a Vigilante because the judgment has already been made divinely just in the way of Jesus Christ who shows us how to speak Gods will in Gods own words called the gospel of Jesus Christ which is the real word of God for anyone who would be saved from justice to come. (Not the infamous word of God used by those who abuse the faith of others and are in fact a VIGILANTE)
Mt 7:13 -
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Mt 7:2 -
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Lu 6:37 -
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
Lu 12:57 -
Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?
Luke 18:1-8
1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
Joh 5:30 -
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
Joh 7:24 -
“Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment”
Joh 12:48 -
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken the same (The Gospel) shall judge him in the last day.
John 3:10-21
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? 11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? 13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not (The Gospel) is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light (The life John 1:4 revealed, the Gospel John 6:63) is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 “But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, (The light which is the life is in the Gospel) that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God”
See the Light right now, if you want to know if your deeds are in Gods will all you need to do is come to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and see if they are. You do not need the approval of a Vigilante.
To the Vigilante I leave this famous quote -
Romans 2:1-16
1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. 2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. 3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? 4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? 5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; 10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: 11 For there is no respect of persons with God. 12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; 13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. 14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) 16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
